In a world where gym shirts were too soft...
In 2012, we fell deeply in love with Obstacle Course Racing. It ripped us off the treadmill, out of our comfort zone, and unleashed us into the wild outdoors. Events like Spartan Race, Tough Mudder, BattleFrog, and Savage Race tested us and our gear to the limits. We learned that cotton shirts got soggy in the mud, and that gym shirts got shredded during barbed wire crawls.
We set out to make a tougher performance shirt
MudGear was born to do what nobody else could do; make a performance shirt resilient enough to withstand outdoor race conditions and tough enough to help protect racers from the cuts, rope burns, and other injuries common in obstacle course racing.
They Said It Couldn't Be Done - They Forgot About American Muscle
The American apparel industry has a long history of quality engineering, but cheap labor gave rise to importing. While others cut costs and cut corners, we knew the world's toughest and best performance shirts should be designed and made in the USA. Leveraging decades of experience with top brands, our designers are experts in the technology of performance shirt construction.
Using Premium Fabrics and Strong Construction
The difference comes from starting with American fabric blends that are chosen for their durability and comfort. Next, we engineered our shirts to achieve specific performance results for their breathabillity, moisture management, and abrasion resistance. We designed an athletic cut profile that is optimized for athletic performance and comfort. In layman's terms, our performance shirts look and feel great.
And Tested In The Worst Conditions Possible
Normal testing of performance apparel involves stretching them to measure the material strength and passing them through a simple abrasion test to see how quickly they show wear. Our testing involves putting them on the backs of the world's top obstacle racers and trail runners for trips up and down mountains all day in all types of weather. We test for wicking by fully submerging them in muddy water, and we test abrasion by climbing up and down ropes, over walls, and through mud.
Through It All, We Were Made Tougher
Nobody said it was going to be easy. We heard a lot of "it's not done that way" and "it's not practical". But all the trials and trails made us tougher, and we're now proud to offer the world's best shirts for Spartan Race, trail running, rucking, or whatever outdoor adventure you think of next.

Why Choose MudGear
Size and Fit
The MudGear Race Jersey is intentionally fitted and tapered. Use the size chart as a guide, but when close or in doubt, go a size larger. Remember that a fitted race cut shirt will accentuate every muscle and hug every fat roll. Plan accordingly.
Wore this for the first time during a 10 mile tough mudder and it held up great. Did not have the "hanging" feeling you get when other performance shirts get wet. Love it!
I live on the equator. It is hot, very hot, and humid. Most tech shirts I wear are either too warm, hold too much moisture or don't last very long (due to the stress caused by the climate). I ordered this singlet online, and my shipment arrived promptly and fitted as expected. After a couple of runs, the singlet is now my go-to running vest, yoga-T and gym vest. While it absorbs perspiration, it does not weigh me down, it is light, breathable and very comfortable. I will definitely buy another singlet soon.
The MudGear Men's Fitted Sleeveless Race Jersey is awesome!! It is fitted but NOT too tight, it is just right and provides enough space and freedom to tackle any obstacle during a race. It is sleeveless so you won't feel limited during upper body obstacles. It drains water very fast and will not get heavy after after a mud crawl or similar obstacles as the mud will just fall off. Excellent quality and my go-to shirt for any OCR or outdoor trail run!!!
