Rucking has been positioned as the outdoor fitness hobby for people who hate running. Since CrossFitters hate running, rucking seems like a natural fit.
Let's flashback to the 2019 CrossFit Games when athletes were introduced to the world of GoRuck and made to, you guessed it, RUN. Each athlete (men and women) began the 6km run with 20lbs. on their backs. Then, they added 10lbs. after each 1,500m loop ending lap 4 carrying 50lbs. while racing.
By OCR or trail-running standards, the races weren't fast; but THIS IS RUCKING, and it is an impressively painful beatdown for the world's fittest strength-based athletes.
If you're shocked to learn rucking can be more than weighted walks, you haven't seen anything yet. Here's a throwback to the 2019 Rogue Invitational which featured rope climbs, running, sandbag carry and drag all while wearing rucksacks. BRUTAL!
So, what are you waiting for? The next time you need to decide between running or rucking, DO BOTH!
