WTM | What Happens in Vegas...

World's Toughest Mudder 2021

We don’t know who coined the concept of speaking “my truth,” but we’re going for it. News of the 2021 World’s Toughest Mudder returning to Vegas is bittersweet for some of us.

NEVERMIND TEXAS

Many of our MudGear friends and family in Texas were once excited about this year’s event originally slated for the Dallas/Ft Worth area. News of WTM 2020’s cancellation was a hard pill to swallow, but we found solace in looking forward to next year… still expecting the Lone Star State to host. So, again, recent news that next year’s WTM will bypass Texas and return to the deserts of Nevada is a little disappointing. There - we said it!

AT LEAST IT'S HAPPENING

Now the good news. WORLD’S TOUGHEST MUDDER 2021 IS HAPPENING! Sure, the announcement implies that our current pandemic concerns will be a thing of the past. Most experts agree that trustworthy vaccines will be largely available as early as spring. So, the announcement of WTM 2021 makes sense and sets the stage for a year of planning and training. There are a number of noncompetitive registration options for participants focused on achieving personal mileage goals. However, the real excitement comes with the return of serious cash prizes to the tune of $10k for first place (men’s and women’s).

MAKE IT WORTH IT

Time to speak some more “truth.” After a year of cancelled events (not their fault), preceded by declining race reviews, increased criticism of race structure and management, and eventual bankruptcy, the pricey registration fee ($439 per participant) nears the line of being too much too soon and seems tone-deaf to those who may have lost faith in the brand. 2021 will be Tough Mudder’s season of reproving itself as one of the most stellar brands and experiences of its kind. MudGear thinks and hopes it can. Truth!
